I'm so lucky that Josephine took time out of her busy blog touring to stop her and answer a couple questions about her book and writing process.
Josephine: It depends on which one I'm writing at the moment. I spend so much time doing character bios, and I put so much of myself into all of my characters, that I identify with all of them at different times. Yes, even the boys. Even Hector. In fact, I LOVE writing wise-ass guys that tread the boundaries of dickishness. It's liberating.
Genn: What are your plans for your next book?
Josephine: My second book in the series, DREAMLESS, is already finished and through all the major re-writes. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. It's darker than STARCROSSED, and it has a lot more action. Dare I say it's sexier? Heck yeah, I dare. It's sexier! Helen, Lucas, and a new boy named Orion all go through the wringer in this one. I am not very nice to my characters, but it is an exciting read.
Genn: Do you have any advice for people interested in writing and publishing a book?
Josephine: My advice for anyone interested in writing a book is Make a Good Outline! I'm serious about this. I'm big on outlines, and making sure that I know all my major reversals and turning points before I start on Page One. Knowing where you are going with a story keeps the dreaded "writer's block" at bay as well.
As to getting published all I can say is that I got soooo lucky. I got a great agent, and then I listened to her. The publishing world baffles me and I couldn't imagine trying to navigate it on my own. :)
Congrats again on Starcrossed!
