Liar, Liar, Kate's on Fire!

Last week I devoured The Liar Society by Lisa and Laura Roecker.  Featuring a sassy, pink-haired amateur sleuth, secret societies, and prep schools, it was exactly the right cross between Nancy Drew and Gossip Girl to suck me in -- and it was a much needed break from the fantastical and dystopic.

There are several reasons to love the book.  To start off the voice jumps off the page, and you really get invested in the characters.  I'm pretty good at guessing whodunnit, but this book kept me on my toes, and left me wanting more.  It was so good that when I was about 264 pages in (who's counting?) and I happened to find myself in Barnes and Noble, I snagged a copy off the shelf and proceeded to read while pushing a double stroller and sleeping toddler.  Sadly, as I kept running into shelves and tables and people, I woke the sleeping minion and had to stop.  This just reminds me how much I want need a Kindle.

Perhaps its Kate's penchant for questioning authority or pink hair (things I can relate to), but I loved her.  I won't comment on the ending because I don't want to give anything away, but you want to read this book.  Trust me!  I wouldn't lie.

  1. I'm in! I loved the voice of the LIAR SOCIETY query you posted previously. Clearly more "reading chairs" need to appear in Barnes and Nobles.
