Fall for New Adult

Hello!

Melanie Harlow here--I'm guest blogging today for lovely Gennifer, who is helping us kick off the Fall for New Adult campaign! What's so cool about that is that even authors like Gennifer who have had great success with contemporary romances (Mmmmm, Liam) want to see New Adult expand into other genres.

In fact, our fellow NAtural author Laurelin Paige, who's had huge success outside NA but is planning to write for the category in the near future, says "There are more experiences to read about and enjoy than just boy meets girl. All of the topics I like to read in general would be beautiful translated to that age. I want to read about friendships about learning how to stand without parents. I want murder mysteries and drug deals. I want sci-fi and historical. All with college age MC's. A lot like what the YA industry offers, but with more mature characters and a different mindset."

Do you agree? Keep reading...
Join the campaign and tell us about it!

Fall for the new New Adult: a campaign to spread the word that New Adult is expanding into new and exciting categories like Historical, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Gothic, and more!

  1. Have you guys checked out NA Alley yet? It's a fantastic site created by indie NA authors who write pretty much everything NA - there's dystopian, paranormal, contemporary. The guys are fantastic. They've got massive lists as well of NA titles to look for, and they are currently creating one for non contemporary titles! (www.naalley.com)

And I agree! NA definitely needs to be appreciated more in other genres such as historical, paranormal and fantasy! There are so many great stories out there that are dying to be read, and a lot of people are missing out on some great authors :)
