A Contractual Obligation

As I promised, I dragged my husband out to take pictures when I signed my contract.  As luck would have it, I did my hair that morning and as soon as we picked up the copies of the contract, I was caught in a deluge of rain.  So I look like a drowned cat in most of them, but, hey, at least I'm a happy drowned cat.

Things I didn't expect about contracts.  They are long.  Ok, I expected that, but I had to sign 3 copies of each contract for all 3 books, meaning I signed 9 times, and the contracts totaled 306 pages!  That's as long as my book.

Or how many questions I would have.  I mean, it's just the next three years of my life!  Thank goodness for my fabulous agent and Foundry's legal advisers.

Or how giddy I would feel when I packed up all 4 and a half pounds of contractual obligation and shipped it off to New York.  It feels just like the hours following my wedding - exciting and joyful and surreal.  But just like that day, there's a signed reminder that it really happened.

It really happened!
