Bookanistas: Big at Bologna

In case you don't obsessively tweet all day long, you might have missed all the Bologna tweets coming from the children's book fair.  Now why would a Bookanista care about Bologna? 1) It shows readers what new trends/books are going to be big in the next year or so, and 2) since so many of us are writers, it tells us what rights people are looking for!

Agents repeatedly tweeted that people are looking for Middle Grade!  I know this makes many of us very happy.

Sarah Davies says people want melty - as in make you melt into a puddle of goo - YA romances.

Ginger Clarktweeted that several books we're being pitched as the YA Game of Thrones

Fairytale retellings and YA thrillers were in demand.

Several agents tweeted a reminder that Bologna wasn't the place to troll for agents.

Marissa Meyer has been tweeting pics of recent and soon-to-be released titles.

Red wine, pasta, and espresso were all big, if somewhat cliché, news.

  2. I saw the tweets including the one with your UK cover. I always like to see the different direction the international design teams take for the same book.

  3. Petra, I'd seen it over email before, but it was really exciting to see it hanging up at Bologna!
